Happy 2010/Winter Game Jam

Posted by RiverJordan - December 31st, 2010

Guys, holy shit i had so many submissions this year .___. I also went to 3 Newgrounds meetups, made my first 2 flash games, participated in 2 online game jams, as well as 2 local ones.

I'd say it was a sweet year, Happy 2010 guys, 2011 is gonna rock even harder! Then in 2012, were all gonna die! No jk, that's dumb, kinda like HotDiggityDemon. (ooohhh, i went thereeee).

;)

SO; Game Jam. Alongside WallRoss, Father-of-Death, and ZaDrugLord, we teamed up to make a game that very loosely fit the theme "Earth freezing over". We had this idea for an Evil space Overlord who tries to block out the sun and freeze the planet. You had to blow up the ship before the planet froze.

Frozen Fate

Now, despite this game getting the worst score out of all of the game jam games (excluding trader-eddys game because it was broken and about moving squares), all of us on team Arctic Fox are really happy with the game we made. There were a few control issues (sliding) and not being "SPIKES KILL YOU!" enough, but besides that the game has a pretty good story and gameplay isn't the worst ever.

If you want to read more about it, i wrote up a short thing on my blog.

Good 2010 guys, talk to you in the new year!

Man, it has so much potential. It falls short because of the slippy controls, but good job, regardless.

Meh, it happens. Both of our teams did very good in the summer jam, but we have the lowest rated submissions now.

I liked your game. Ross is pissed because ours got a higher score then yours. :D

I was, unfortunately, unable to participate in the Game Jam this time around. It's a sad thing for me; I at least wanted to try to keep the thing consistent.

Ah well....at least the very first one ended up with a first place win under our belts. But (I know that people will be thinking "Well what the hell was he supposed to think of"), I was kind of disappointed with the themes thusfar. They all have to do with the weather going on around us (well, in the Northern Hemisphere of the world, anyway) rather than some random events that just may occur to someone.

But I shall leave my rant for some other person's comment section on their profile.

I thought I'd draw your attention to this: http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/18 23/imagejyw.jpg

It was something a friend (of sorts) made. I'm sorry I didn't post it sooner.
