Something I'm working on

Posted by RiverJordan - August 30th, 2010

I'm starting to dislike this whole "If you're going to do something, do it right the first thing" thing, cause I keep doing things wrong the first time haha.

Here's a scene from Exile 1 I'm working on. Unfortunately, I only realized recently that I have to redo a bunch of it! Ack!

The cause for the redo is because I feel the mood is ruined when the characters aren't panting from the intense fight, it's like..super casual dialogue with actiony-actions... it just looks odd hey?

Anyways, has this ever happened to anyone? Like, big changes JUST to get it perfect cuz you didn't think about what you were doing when you started?

My dump upload just finished, which i was waiting for while writing this... imma go now, see ye!

shameless Twitter plug

Oh, and I updated my blog thing today

I'm really looking forward to it. I'm sorry to say, not that it's any better than my art now (haha), but your Exile series sucked all in all with the crappy art.

Yes it did!

lol I get that all the time, its just that im too lazy to redo it :P

It happens mang

And I was just checking out your flash submissions. It seems that Jeremy Bongstarr has surpassed "Warning labels." I was wondering when it was going to happen.

Yeah, that game was way too popular for its own good

looks good but the camera shake looks unnatural

Agreed, I gotta study the camera movements in movies Lord of the Rings at some point soon

I think the spin in the beginning that luke did looked super unnatural, but I understand how hard something like that is. I Love the rest. After he jeered about the way luke's father died I was like 'Dayuuummm that's nice animation and I'm smiling.'

haha thanks man! I'll deff try and fix the intro spin, i noticed it but didn't think it was a huge deal.

Don't get yourself down because of that, man!

I'm not really down, just kind of annoyed with myself. At the same time, i feel like It's a learning moment and the series will benefit from it.

oh man i know EXACTLY how you feel; i've had that happen and i've also had my computer crash on me which made me lose a 5 minute cartoon i was working on for about half a year

and i know you've probably heard this before but i gotta give you huge props for making a serious action-based series when about 90% of the flashes here (not games) are comedy and try to get quick laughs, even if i think the story's real cheesy (no offense).

It totally sucks right? Dayumm.. since i got my mac i've praised apple for their Time machine, backing up things so simply is a wonder :P

Thanks for the input, i can see how it seems pretty cheesy right now, (and the older chapters are REALLY bad for that), but i'm working hard to make it non-cheesy :)

I'm loving this feedback on the clip though, i'm thinking i'll post all of my scenes as i work on them and get feedback as i go, seems like the best method of working on it.

Dude, this is fuckin great, don't go showing it off before it's done ._.

I think its a good thing, because not THAT many people actually check out these posts, i love getting feedback, and in the end result, it betters from it.

PS Luke's new eye scar is fuckin hot

So is his glass eye :D

I think some Luke X Ray yaoi is in order.

You mean Luke X Jazz from Necropolis

If you try to make it perfect it'll never be released. At some point you just gotta grit your teeth and say "good enough".

See that's what I was thinking, but when it comes to the animation, I already think its "good enough" and the only reason i'm redoing parts is because the mood itself is gone, and i want a powerful intro :)

You're at the last stretch, don't let redoing things get you down ;D

Thanks man! I certainly wont :)

For one day of coding and two days of everything else, Jeremy Bongstarr was GREAT.

Thanks! We're really happy with the reception that game got :D

i still think a redharvest cameo is in order for exile....just sayin...

nah seriously...it looks EPIC!!!

even tho i support u going back to revamp the old ones..i wish u were taking that same time to work on new ones!!!..i get what ur doin tho

Haha yeah, at times i hate myself for going back :(

this is monkey

T'is

Lookin Great man, keep it up! and I look forward to it

Thanks ColdReaver, appreciate it!

christ, I really didn't realize how good an animator you actually were.

Nice job :D

Haha awesome :) thanks man!

In answer to your question, yes...this sort of thing happens to me all the time. Usually the culprit is deadlines. The self-imposed ones are the worst, and you always know, better than anyone else, exactly where you cut corners. My new deadline is to have the Locked Up series finale done by Christmas. It's a brutal deadline, and corners will be cut. Promise. ( ; _ ; )

Can't wait to see what you've got cookin' here. ( ^ w ^ )

Deadlinessss... i know what you mean man. My personal issue on this isn't deadlines, but maybe actually NOT having deadlines... either way, good luck on your project! Thanks for the comments on mine :)
